Greetings everyone

Today is national breast cancer awareness day (coincidentally it is also no bra day as well, how ironic) which reminds me it is important that we take care of ourselves. Everyday we are subject to being pulled in more directions giving our time and attention to where it needs to be to help others. So, when it comes to taking care of our selves’ nurses tend to neglect self-care. This leads to  compassion fatigue, burnout, and potentially declining physical and mental wellbeing. Take time to give yourself a break. Plan something just for you. So, my question this week is what do you do to take care of yourself? Do you get away from it all, get a massage, visit with friend and colleagues? How do you best de-stress from our ever-evolving hectic professional lives?

Bonus question: This is national Sterile Processing Week. What do you do to recognize your colleagues in the Sterile Processing Department?

Quote: "People who love themselves come across as very loving, generous, and kind; they express their self-confidence through humility, forgiveness, and inclusiveness." —Sanaya Roman

I hope you give yourself some love and kindness this week.

Kenny
