Join Our Rehabilitation Unit as a Casual Registered Nurse

Our Rehabilitation Unit is a 9‑bed specialty department dedicated to helping patients regain strength, endurance, and independence after acute health events. Our team provides intensive, patient‑centered therapy and nursing care that supports each individual’s recovery and enhances their quality of life. We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join our team on a casual basis and contribute to this meaningful work.

Responsibilities

  • Apply the nursing process using Relationship‑Based Care to create a healing, patient‑centered environment.
  • Demonstrate strong critical thinking, communication, and documentation skills to support safe, coordinated care.
  • Maintain accountability for professional development and contribute to a high‑quality patient care environment.
  • Participate in shared governance, goal setting, and quality‑improvement initiatives within the unit.
  • Collaborate as an engaged care team partner, supporting colleagues and adapting to change as needed.
  • Identify and support opportunities for clinical quality improvement using research and evidence‑based practices.
  • Provide effective patient and family education, ensuring smooth transitions of care.
  • Support the growth of students and new staff; may serve as a preceptor.
  • Build caring, compassionate relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Foster productive working relationships by demonstrating accountability, cultural awareness, and healthy work‑life balance.
  • Communicate workplace safety concerns and model safe work habits.

  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required
  • Strong ability to assess patient status, interpret clinical data, and identify age‑specific care needs.
  • Exceptional critical thinking, clinical judgment, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proven ability to build positive, collaborative relationships with patients, families, and all levels of staff.
  • Mobility, visual/manual dexterity, and physical stamina to meet job demands, including frequent walking, standing, lifting, and patient positioning.

Licensure & Certifications

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the practicing state.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR (AHA‑approved) — required within 30 days of hire.
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIH) — required within 90 days of hire or transfer.
  • Act 34 Clearance.
  • OAPSA Clearance
